Riot Games is a company that produces video games that have grown in popularity, such as League of Legends. The game is under young adults because it features violence and the need for strategies. Riot Games is an American video game publisher that was formed in 2006. The company was founded as an independent game studio by Brandon "Ryze" Beck and Marc "Tryndamere" Merrill in Los Angeles.
They're games are focused on one-on-one and team battles that rely on the users practice at using a specific character. Each of their currently 165 characters have a backstory, or a lore. There are characters that counter others or work together really well. It's grown in such popularity yet it remains a free-to-play model.
Despite no longer being independent, having received funding from multiple companies as an investment, the Riot Games originally started as an independent gaming company, with their first game being League of Legends: Clash of Fates in 2008, which was re-released as League of Legends in 2009. The company remains controlled by a small group still, that handles the bugs and the coding for the game.
The players of Riot Games products are usually people who prefer strategy games and battles that test skills and quick thinking. Though it's received tons of reviews on how the immaturity of some of the players is causing a toxic environment for people looking to pick up the hobby.
The reason Riot Games was today's topic is because they are a rags to riches story, starting out with two guys and a dream MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena). The game has since then grown in fame and popularity and although they are funded heavily now, they were once independent and keep some of the ideals. Such as remaining in close contact with players and handling software issues in small groups.
